Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In February this year our Daddy, Paul, became unwell. He was admitted to Teresa's Ward in Beaumont Hospital when he received the devastating diagnoses of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).
Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) is a fast-growing type of leukaemia (cancer of the blood) which affects myeloid white blood cells. This cancer affects the number of healthy cells in your blood. This can cause problems with fighting infection, carrying oxygen and bleeding. (Irish Cancer Society)
Since 27th February he has been under the care of the oncology haematology team and the wonderful nurses of Teresa's Ward. All the staff here doctors, nurses, care assistants, catering, cleaning staff, porters, social workers and reception staff have all been so pleasant and kind. These nurses have been amazing in every aspect of our Dad's care, and a wealth of support and kindness towards me and my family. There are only so many cupcakes we can give, so I've decided to give the mini marathon another go this year for my Dad, to raise some much needed funds specifically for this wonderful ward.
Sadly, our Dad passed away on the evening of 4th May 2023, surrounded by his family. The staff of Teresa's Ward were incredibly compassionate, kind and professional in his final hours and thereafter. We are forever grateful for all the care and attention to detail he and indeed we received.
Please donate whatever you can and please know it is greatly appreciated! Thank you! -Joann, Michelle & Paul
