As it approaches 10 years since the wonderful Peter Herrington left us I felt it was important to do something to mark this occasion. When I saw this trek advertised I thought it was a perfect opportunity to raise some money for a wonderful charity that helped us in the final months of Pete’s life.

To help me on this challenge I have enlisted the help of my friend and neighbour Will to accompany me. Although they didn’t know each other for very long Pete and Will built up a strong friendship over the most randomness of things most of which I didn’t ask much about! Will has been a godsend road testing biodegradable washing cloths and advising me on which trekking products to get.

This trek is going to be quite a challenge both physically and mentally (and hygienically!) We will be trekking through the Sahara for four days sleeping in tents or under the stars. There will be no washing facilities and we will be walking through sand, dried river beds, over sand dunes and navigating rocky terrain all in the blistering heat.

We like a challenge and we know that Pete will be up there cheering us on.
