This June I’m taking part in the Coppafeel Isle of Skye 100km trek to help raise awareness of breast cancer
15 years ago I had breast cancer & after surgery, chemo & radiotherapy I’m happy to say I’m ok now. Over the last few years I’ve had so many friends who have been diagnosed too. After treatment, most of them have survived except for my wonderful friend Lisa who I really miss.
I’m doing this challenge in memory of her & all the other people close to me who have been affected by this disease.
CoppaFeel! are the UK’s only youth focused breast cancer awareness charity, and they’re on a mission to get every 18-24 year old checking their chest.
They educate people on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and encourage them to check their chests regularly, so that if they notice something unusual they are empowered to contact their GP and advocate for themselves. They do this because when diagnosed early and accurately, breast cancer treatments are more effective and survival rates are higher. Early detection truly can save lives.
