Story
Hannah, Emily and I are taking on the 20 mile Edale Skyline challenge for OSCAR's Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity to raise money to support children with brain tumours and their families, raise awareness of signs and symptoms of this terrible disease, and fund research into better and kinder treatments.
This wonderful charity is close to our hearts having supported our best friend Rachel and her family since her youngest daughter Grace was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour in September 2022, age just 8 years old, which turned their world upside down. Grace has since endured brain surgery, proton beam therapy and chemotherapy.
For children going through treatment for brain tumours, and their siblings, Oscar’s offer Booster Boxes to provide a little pick-me-up. Tailored to the children’s favourite things, the boxes are put together with thought and care to hopefully provide a smile in amongst the difficult times. Grace and her two siblings received a Booster Box each, which brought some much needed happiness to them at a difficult time.
We will be walking ten years to the weekend that Oscar Hughes died of a brain tumour aged just 9. The charity that bears his name has helped so many other children in the same situation and the team taking on the walk are doing so to help even more.
