Story
Jo's Godmother (and Nonna to Alex) was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2013 having already been suffering with the symptoms for about 5 years year prior this. Jo now cares for her Godmother as she is now unable to live a safe independent life living alone.
With several hospital visits over the last 14 months it has become apparent at the lack of knowledge about this disease especially within the NHS at ward level. Our campaign is not only to raise much needed funds for Parkinson's UK but to also raise awareness to everyone about this disease and to gain traction within the medical fields of the local hospital to help them train their nurses and health care support staff who care for people that suffer with PD on their wards.
Alex & Jo decided to climb Mount Kilimanjaro as a start to their efforts of their fundraising and were scammed out of £2.5k having paid a company for the cost of the climb. Unfortunately a further 107 people have come forward having also been scammed and it hit national news when 30 people raising money for Hope4 were left stranded in Tanzania.
Our climb will be one of many fundraising events however this will be the biggest and most testing of us both. If there is a company that is willing to sponsor Alex & Jo to do the climb (approx. £3.5k) please do get in touch.
