Story
Kay, Nic and I each have several friends and family members who have fought and won the battle against this disease. Kay herself was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2019 and has recently been given her final 'all clear' following treatment and 5 years of medication. She is eternally grateful for the care that she received, and knows that it is vital for research to continue so that more people will receive the same outcome as she has.
We are raising money in memory of our dear friend Debi Kennaugh who passed away in February this year. A few years ago, whilst attending a routine mammogram, Debi was found to have a ductal carcinoma In situ. Fortunately the early detection of this led to it being removed during a biopsy. Sadly Debi developed a different form of cancer which was discovered last year, and despite her great courage, led to her early passing at the age of 56.
Debi lived on Peel promenade for over 10 years and we will be thinking of her as we snuggle into our sleeping bags under the stars in Peel Castle on the other side of the bay. We know she'd find it hilarious that we are taking part in this sleepover - especially when at least two of us are terrified of the Moddey Dhoo!
Breast Cancer Now believes that if we all act now by 2050 everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live and live well.
Please help us to raise £750 for this fantastic charity.
