Story

On September 10th 2023, Keith Turner will be attempting to set a new Guinness World Record by running the Great North Run half marathon untethered (without any physical directional support from his guide runner, Jim Roberts).

Despite Keith and Jim competing in the Great North Run together before, this will be the first time they have attempted to run the entire race untethered. This is an enormous undertaking and relies on a huge amount of trust and experience between runner and guide.

Keith lost his sight at the age of 19 due to childhood glaucoma. He took up running over 20 years ago and it's been a huge part of his life since. Through this record attempt, Keith will be raising money for Moorfields Eye Charity to support research into eye conditions and innovations in patient care worldwide.
