Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Along with 23 amazing and inspirational guys I am taking part in 'Brave 2024' to raise funds for an incredible charity, Friends of Anchor (FOA), when we will be strutting our stuff on the catwalk at P&J Live!! No, I can't quite believe it either! LOL!
FOA provide person-centred wellbeing services, freely available for every patient within the ANCHOR Unit, at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and invests in medical equipment and pioneering research. Every penny donated goes directly to the work of the charity. I know how valuable their help and support have been personally.
In July 2021, I received my first cancer diagnosis after a lump in my neck and tests revealed I had Stage 3 squamous cell carcinoma in the base of my tongue and lymph nodes in both sides of my neck. After chemo and 30 sessions of radiotherapy in March 2022, I received the great news I was 'all clear'!
A routine CT scan in December 2023, revealed another tumour on the right side of my neck. Surgery was not an option as it was very close to the main carotid artery so in March 2024 I started another 30 sessions of radiotherapy. I'm believing in faith I'll get another 'all clear'!
I'd very much appreciate any donation to help with the work of this awesome charity. More than 1000 people a day are given a cancer diagnosis. Please help Friends of Anchor continue their excellent work in supporting patients and family, funding medical equipment and supporting critical research to find a cure for this disease.
Thanks so much
Jim
