Jim's fundraiser for St Giles Hospice

Skydive
Hi, thanks for visiting my JustGiving page!
My name is Jim Gray, and I’m 82 years old, living in Burton-on-Trent. This Summer on Saturday 19th July, I’ll be taking a giant leap—literally—as I skydive to raise vital funds for St Giles Hospice, the incredible place that cared for my late wife, Rosemary, during her final weeks.
The skydive is deeply personal to me. St Giles Hospice provided Rosemary with exceptional end-of-life care after her cancer diagnosis. In December 2023, she spent her last weeks there, surrounded by compassion and love. It’s a memory that has stayed with me, and I want to do my part to ensure that others can have access to the same level of care.
Unfortunately, St Giles has been facing tough financial times recently. To continue its essential work, the hospice has had to make some difficult decisions—reducing inpatient capacity and making staff redundancies. When Rosemary was receiving care, we never had to think about the cost. But now, I realise how much goes into providing this incredible support, and I want to make sure that St Giles can keep helping families like ours for years to come.
I won’t be jumping alone—seven friends and family members will join me at Tilstock Airfield in Shropshire for this skydive challenge. We’ve also been blessed to have the support of Burton Family Church, who are encouraging members of our congregation to take part and fundraise for St Giles Hospice (registered charity 509014).
Your support means the world to me and to everyone at St Giles. Together, we can make a difference and ensure this vital service remains available to those who need it most.
Thank you so much for your generosity! Every donation, big or small, helps to make a huge impact.
– Jim
