Story

Hi there.

Thankyou for looking to donate.

'Jill Yvette's Holistic Beauty' celebrates 40 year anniversary dedicated to health and wellbeing of clients, and I believe it is the longest serving business of its type in Huddersfield.

My story began with severe lifelong Eczema and allergies from birth. But when just 12 (1974 - yes I'm 62!)) when I was really struggling with Eczema and medical knowledge of it - (and help) was limited, my ambition was created to be a Beauty Therapist. My Dad - (and Mum), were the ones that stood by me at a time when no-one knew how amazing the profession was to become.

Such as the respect I would earn professionally, or how I would merge into holistic therapies to share with clients for powerful results. The lives I would transform. The several national awards I would win, and even also for creating my signature crossover skin and wellbeing therapy 'I wish... (R) The Wellbeing Facial Therapy, I would create. The book I would co-author. I even had to fight to get accepted at college due to my Eczema!

My Dad was a very intelligent and knowledgeable man, great with people and his university students. He taught me multiplication tables with matchsticks on the lounge rug with the patience of a saint! He never stopped teaching and guiding me until the day he left us with cancer.

Being a 'Hobson' Yorkshire man I always said he would claim his investment back sometime. Little did I know one day I would treat him daily as we had our little sleeps every afternoon together with Reiki. I know he never felt pain until his last 2 days - and even then he was stringing up his tomatoes the day before he left us.!

His last bucket list request was to have a Dixons ice-cream, which of course we obliged!

It was always comforting to know Kirkwood Hospice and their services were there for us should we need it, and my dad always supported it whenever possible.

I have had many mentors during the 40 years. On 15th September this year, I am holding a Garden Party to celebrate, and inviting clients and all who have been a part of that journey. Unfortunately not all can attend the party, or purchase raffle tickets in aid of Kirkwood. (Many thanks to Rumpus Burgers, Vinery Hair salon, Bolster Moor Farm shop, Gernetic, Jane Iredale and family for your support)

Several have asked to make a donation even though they're not able to attend, so I have set up a Just-Giving page just for you as part of the celebrations. Every donation is a big and vital part to enable Kirkwood to do their amazing work at a very personal time.

I am unable to climb mountains, or run marathons etc. But one gift my Dad did pass on is the enjoyment of making people smile, sharing and party planning the old fashioned way. In this case 1984 style!

Your £10 donation could fund a virtual wellbeing session for a patient living with heart failure.

A donation of £50 could pay for specialist counselling support for a patient and their family.

£100 could provide vital support to a patient in their own home from one of The Kirkwood Nurses.

The Kirkwood are here to support anyone affected by a life limiting illness, every step of the way. Right now, over 3,000 people in Kirklees are living with an illness from which they will not recover. Your support means we’re here for them.

Best wishes

Jill Yvette
