On the 12th May I will be running the Leeds half marathon alongside my lovely friend, Lauran, in honour of my dad who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease last year.

MND is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease, it attacks the nerves that control movement so muscles no longer work which eventually leaves people unable to move, talk and breathe.

MND kills a third of people within a year and more than half within 2 years of diagnosis. There is no cure for MND currently.

The MND Association have supported my dad from when he was diagnosed in helping him understand the disease and what to expect, accessing support, voice banking, providing home adaptations and equipment such as a ventilator, recliner chair and a motorised wheelchair.

Every donation is so important and really does make a difference:

£10 connects a newly diagnosed person with valuable support through a comprehensive MND Guide

£100 enables someone to bank their own voice and buys software to be able to communicate with loved ones

£250 will support a child whose world has been turned upside down by MND, offering the chance to improve their wellbeing or make special memories with the family.

£500 can go towards the cost of a ceiling hoist or pay towards housing adaptions such as a ramp to enable someone to live in their own home.

£1000 pays for detailed analysis of the DNA of someone with MND to help us to find better treatments

£2000 funds an MND expert researcher for 2 weeks, on the road to discover a cure
