Friends - today is Legal Aid of North Carolina's first Day of Giving. I cannot think of a more impactful nonprofit to support this year. Legal Aid of NC provides free legal services to many communities across the state including survivors of domestic violence, children, seniors, people facing eviction, and farmworkers.

A few months ago, I joined the Immigration Pathways for Victims program as a staff attorney within Legal Aid of NC. My team (IMMPAV) provides legal support to immigrant survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, and human trafficking. Our clients inspire me with their resilience and courage.

There is no constitutional right to an attorney for civil legal needs. The number of people who call Legal Aid of NC for help far outpaces our ability to serve them. Legal Aid NC's mission impacts low-income families and individuals facing hardships around housing, safety, employment, education, and more.
