Story
This April I will be taking on the iconic London Marathon in aid of Meningitis Now! Only twice as far as I've gone before, how hard can it be?
As many of you will know, meningitis is a condition with which I am familiar, having nearly lost Kirstie to it in 2017.
A truly terrifying experience, which began with something as everyday as earache, and quickly progressed to delirium, non responsiveness and a week long induced coma.
Fortunately by some miracle Kirstie defied all expectations, and we couldn't keep up with her rate of recovery.
Meningitis is a cruel disease, in all its forms, and can lead to a variety of outcomes, including septicaemia, severe brain damage and death. Even worse, it most commonly affects young children and babies.
Meningitis Now are working to support research that finds new, and enhances existing, vaccines to save lives and prevent disability.
They also provide specialist support to help rebuild lives and ensure no-one has to face meningitis alone, as well as educating and raising awareness, as fast action leads to a much better prognosis.
With no government funding, Meningitis Now need as much support as we can give.
Please support me with whatever you can, every penny counts.
Thanks!
