Story
While working at a refugee organization in Cairo, Egypt, I had the opportunity to witness first hand the direct impact Save the Children has on the community they serve. My primary role at the organization was to assist unaccompanied youth obtain refugee status and apply for services. It was absolutely incredible the assistance Save The Children was able to provide these children in desperate situations. Based on this personal experience, upon my return to the U.S. in 2021, I decided to sponsor a child in Egypt through Save the Children and am grateful for the regular updates on how my financial contributions are helping my child flourish.
As the child of Lebanese immigrants, I am extremely grateful for the work Save the Children has been doing in Lebanon. Save the Children has been working in Lebanon since 1953 and are responding alongside local partners and communities to this latest escalation of violence. Their initial response has included: Ensuring shelters have adequate sanitation and meet the needs of the many newly displaced people; Distributing core relief items to nearly 5000 affected individuals across the country, including water, hygiene kits, blankets, pillows and mattresses as people have nowhere safe to sleep; Referrals for case management to help support unaccompanied children so they can be protected.
I am running the London Marathon for Save the Children because I had the unique opportunity to witness the NGO in action. I don’t know if there is a better way to understand where a financial donation “goes” than to be the requester of assistance for a child and have it fulfilled.
Thanks to your support, Save the Children can help children stay safe, healthy and continue learning, whilst also tackling the root causes of inequality like unjust laws or practices. Together, we can create real change that lasts a lifetime and a world where every child has a chance of the future they deserve.
Thank you!
Take care,
Jenny
