Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation in memory of my Mum, and I'd be so grateful for your support. To raise money, I'll be running the Chester Triple Series (more on that below). The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK, but sadly, every day, hundreds of people lose their lives.

In April 2023, my mum tragically lost her life to a sudden cardiac arrest due to undiagnosed coronary heart disease. Her loss was unexpected and devastating. She had so many plans for the future and was excited to retire, relax, travel and enjoy time with her family and friends.

I know that every possible effort was made to save my mum. However, I believe that further research, improved testing methods, and enhanced treatments could prevent similar heartbreaking losses for other families in the future.

Contrary to common assumptions that heart-related issues primarily affect older individuals, 48,000 people under the age of 75 will succumb to heart-related conditions in the UK this year alone.

My mum, at just 57, became one of these statistics.

Since her death, I’ve learned that coronary heart disease is one of the most common causes of premature death in the UK. It kills more than twice as many women as breast cancer does, even prematurely. Overall, 1-in-4 of us will die from a heart-related issue. Where my Mum lived, in Flintshire, 35 people will succumb to heart or circulatory disease in the next month.

To help prevent heartbreak forever, I will be completing the Chester Triple Series. This includes:

- The Chester 10k in March;

- The Chester Half Marathon in May and;

- The Chester Marathon in October.
