Story
I am honoured and excited to be running the LONDON MARATHON in support of MDUK 🇬🇧🥳🏃♀️
I have chosen MDUK because my friends family have congenital myotonic dystrophy in 3 generations. My daughter Elin was in primary school with Emmie & knows first hand the challenges she has to overcome each day. Emmie & her family have benefitted first hand from the work of MDUK & I am chuffed to raise money for this fantastic charity to help them & others who are in a similar situation to them.
MDUK are a fab charity that provide a network of support and encouragement locally to those who are living with a diagnosis of any of the different types of muscular dystrophy. MDUK fund world-class research into effective treatments, and life changing support for the 110,000 people in the UK living with a muscle-wasting condition.
I am lucky to be able to run because many people with muscle conditions like muscular dystrophy can't. I hope the joy I have in running London both raises the profile of MDUK & by raising money for them improves the quality of life for people with myotonic dystrophy like Emmie.
Thanks for your support everyone 💪🏻 you are all amazing 🤩
A Poem I found online…
My feet may look funny
My muscles maybe weak
I may wobble and stumble
I may appear to be bleak
If you get to know me
you will see my roaring strength
I am a fighter
One that will go to any length
I have an inner light
One that shines ever so bright
So see me for who I am
And not this condition that I have to fight.
