Story
We are walking 50 miles (at least) in 30 days to help raise awareness of the work of Global Care. Global Care helps vulnerable children all over the world, primarily by helping them to access education. We have seen the success of this scheme first hand in the life of our sponsor daughter who is now an adult and qualified as a secondary school teacher. We are so proud of her. Some of you have asked how you can help financially so we have set up this page. Here is a Global Care story.
*Nzeru is a 12-year-old girl living in Malawi. She lives with her grandmother who is partially sighted, after her parents separated a long time ago. The grandmother is responsible for Nzeru and her two brothers. Her mother moved away to find work to try and support the family, her father is blind so cannot work. The money from her mother is just not enough to feed the family.
Nzeru also has chronic health problems and suffers with hallucinations, which affects her ability to stay in school. Thanks to Global Care's partners in Malawi, Nzeru now has school uniform, books, a school bag, school shoes as well as copies of lessons to help her catch up.
Nzeru wants to be a nurse, "I love the profession because I love to help people. I don’t like to see people suffering". Nzeru's grandmother says it has been her dream to see her grandchildren do well in school - but she thought it would be impossible due to their daily struggles. She says she can now see her dream becoming a reality.
