Trek to Petra 2024 · 17 November 2024

Our St Catherine's Hospice heroes will take on Saghro Mountains. Separating the High Atlas mountains and the Sahara desert, their route will travel through lunar landscapes and towering rock formations - an adventure lover's paradise.

Story

In November 2024, Kirsty and I will take on our biggest challenge yet, as we embark on a 5 day trek across the Saghro Mountain Range in Morocco. Covering an average of 10 miles a day through the lunar landscapes of the rocky outcrops and valleys that separate the High Atlas mountains from the Sahara desert, with temperatures ranging from 0-30 degrees, we'll spend 5 nights camping as we complete the trek. Neither of us are strangers to long distance walks, but this will take us both totally out of comfort zones, and will be a huge challenge. The terrain, the ascents, the edges, the temperatures, the scorpions, and not to mention the camping.... we'll need to dig deep both physically and mentally to make it to the end.

St Catherine's Hospice cares for local people at the end of their lives in Surrey and Sussex, and supports those closest to them. Every step taken by our hospice heroes on their mountain adventure will help the hospice be there for local people and those close to them when life comes full circle.

Please support us and help the hospice, at a time when vital services are being cut your support is so important, thank you.
