Story
I was matched with my First Guide Dog Pacha on 15th April 2008. I started training with Pacha and my Guide Dog Mobility Instructor on 5th May 2008 and Pacha and I qualified on 29th May 2008. Pacha and I worked together until 21st January 2017 when she retired and went to live with my Parents until she died on 7th April 2023.
Pacha changed my life for the better, so to honour her life and all she did for me I am taking part in the Jersey Marathon on Sunday 1st October with my good friend Harry McAlindon who will be my Guide Runner to raise money to raise money for Guide Dogs.
Almost two million people in the UK are living with sight loss that has a significant impact on their daily lives. Of those, around 180,000 rarely leave their homes alone and lead lonely, isolated lives.
Guide Dogs works for a world where people with sight loss are never left out of life, for a world where being blind or partially sighted is not what defines you. A world with enough support to make the challenges of sight loss no barrier to fulfilling hopes and dreams.
