Story
We are thrilled to announce that we're taking on an exciting challenge to support Disability Snowsport UK's (DSUK) summer fundraiser, "10K for 10K." We each aim to ski 10,000 meters, which is equivalent to 56 runs from the top of the Chill Factorᵉ slope. This challenge not only pushes us to new heights but also allows us to give back to an organization that has made such a difference for our family.
Two of our boys, Ruadhan aged 7 and Lochlann aged 9, are neurodiverse, and learning to ski and snowboard through DSUK has been transformative for them. Beyond gaining confidence on the snow, they have discovered a newfound sense of self-worth and passion. DSUK has provided them with a supportive environment where they can excel and feel truly capable, both on and off the slopes.
Snowsports have played a crucial role in helping our boys stay regulated as they both have significant sensory needs. The physical and sensory input from skiing and snowboarding not only helps them stay calm and focused but also provides an outlet for their energy and emotions. It's more than just a sport for them.
DSUK's mission is to make snowsport accessible to everyone. The charity is a lifeline for families like ours, and we want to contribute to their incredible work by participating in the 10K for 10K fundraiser.
Through your donation to my challenge you are supporting disabled skiers and snowboarders to experience the freedom, independence and confidence that comes with taking part in snowsports. If you want to find out more about the charity please visit https://www.disabilitysnowsport.org.uk/
