Hi everyone,

I am planning on running the Cardiff Bay 10k on the 19th May next year. I have recently started running the 5k park-runs and thought I would try running further whilst raising money and awareness for a good cause, I am hoping to eventually work my way up to a half marathon.

I feel that most people know someone who has been diagnosed with Cancer, or someone that has sadly passed away as a result of it, for me this has been close to home recently! Sadly I lost both my grandad and uncle to Cancer recently, and this year my nan has been diagnosed with cancer for the second time, she is due to have surgery in the new year.

I decided to raise money and awareness for Cancer Research as without the vital and ongoing research that they carry out, advancements in both diagnostics and treatment wouldn’t be possible. Research helps us to understand the disease in order to provide better overall care and thus improving peoples’ prognosis. My nan wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for the understanding and extensive research conducted into the pathogenesis of bowel cancer and I imagine there are many other people who feel the same way.

So if anyone would like to donate to a good cause whilst also supporting me running the 10k, I would very much appreciate it.
