Story
On 6th April, I'm running the London Landmarks Half Marathon as part of #TeamChoice to raise money for BPAS – the British Pregnancy Advisory Service.
In the current political climate, reproductive freedoms are under attack from the far right - both in America and *on our own shores*. US extremist groups have been channelling funding into UK groups to try to shift the public view on abortion rights here.
Did you know that abortion in the UK is only legal if two doctors agree it's in the patient's best interest because it would "pose a risk" to their health? And abortion secured by any other means is a criminal offence? Our rights are not as enshrined as most of us would assume!
BPAS does VITAL work to protect and advance reproductive rights. They provide compassionate care and support, fight for the decriminalisation of abortion, and advocate for policies that safeguard reproductive freedom for everyone. They have been instrumental in getting the Safe Access Zones law passed and brought into force at the end of last year, so that people can't be harrassed on their way into a reproductive health clinic
I’m proud to run on#TeamChoice because I believe everyone should be able to make their own decisions about their own body. By supporting this cause, we can help ensure that future generations have access to the care and freedom they deserve.
Every step I take on race day will be for women across the UK and beyond, fighting to keep their voices heard and their rights protected. Your donation – no matter how small – can make a real difference in this fight.
Thank you for your support and for standing with me to champion reproductive freedom.
