Story
On a cold, dark, London winter evening, Jen C, Steph, Shad, and company were having a laugh, a few too many drinks, and a hearty, heavy home-cooked meal. The mood was jovial, the spirits were high, and everyone felt that they had eaten more than necessary. It was the perfect recipe for a commitment to unnatural levels of physical activity to try and overcompensate for past life decisions. Just before the post-meal slump kicked in, someone (I won't say who) valiantly declared that one must run the Hackney Half Marathon 2024 to showcase just how fit they still are after giving birth less than 10 months before. And, to do it for the noblest of causes - in support of the Hackney Night Shelters: pounding the streets of Hackney so that others don't need to sleep on the streets! (Thanks Jen C)
You can support our journey in four ways:
- Come cheer/celebrate on May 19th - we've reserved a pub for beers after the run. (WhatsApp one of us if you'd like to join)
- Donate whatever you can to this exceptional charity that keeps homeless people off the streets. Look outside - it's probably wet or cold or both. Help people who need your support stay off the streets.
- Volunteer to look after a small child and/or a large fluffy dog while we run
