Jemma's fundraiser for Hospice in the Weald

Camino de Santiago · 30 April 2025
Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page, I am raising money for the Hospice in the Weald by taking on part of the Camino de Santiago!
I have personally experienced the fantastic care and dedication by the hospice nursing team having lost a member of my own family there. So I decided I wanted to do something to make a difference and to say thank you to the amazing staff by raising as much money as I can by taking on this adventure.
Trekking the final 67km of the famous Camino Frances – the French Way! Starting in Palas de Rei, we begin our three-day trekking adventure along this popular pilgrimage route. We will trek through rolling green landscapes, traditional villages and picturesque woodlands on our way to Santiago, discovering local traditions and meeting fellow pilgrims along the way. Today the Camino is more than a pilgrimage, it is a remarkable journey and a unique experience. Our final destination is the magical Santiago Old Town, a wonderful UNESCO World Heritage site, home to the stunning Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela!
Hospice in the Weald is a local charity in Kent that cares and supports patients and families with palliative and end of life care, free of charge, all day everyday.
I am now privileged to work for the Hospice and every day I see and speak to people who have a connection to the Hospice. Many have lost a loved one, some are living with a terminal or life limiting illness, some are visiting patients and, of course, some are our amazing volunteers.
The charity is not funded by the NHS therefore it relies on the support from donations, fundraising and charity shops to fund its amazing work.
