Story
This year I'll be taking on a huge cycling challenge, cycling from Land's End in Cornwall to John O'Groats in Thurso at the top of the Scottish Highlands, more than 1,000 miles. The journey will be entirely cycle powered (no boats, cars, buses or trains) and will take three weeks.
As part of my training, I'll also be cycling from London to North Devon, a five-day adventure from my house to my parent's house. I'll also be taking part in Ride London and a triple 5k Swimathon in May to challenge my fitness.
I'll level with you — we're mainly doing it for the adventure, because why the heck not, but thought this is also a good opportunity to raise money for a cause we care about.
Many of you will have met Swirls, our beautiful, toothless, and grumpy rescue cat who found us in lockdown. Celia Hammond Animal Trust is a very small animal shelter based in Canning Town, East London, who took him in to care for his wounds from a fox fight and also removed all of his rotten teeth. Oh, and his balls too.
I really can't stress how much of a small operation they are — when we looked around to bust him out of jail and take him home all their records for the cats were stored on cardboard tickets on their enclosures. Any donation to Celia Hammond would make a huge difference to a tiny charity making a big difference.
