Story
Team Jed is a collective of individuals who are in the constant pursuit of a treatment or cure for Muscular Dystrophy. All money that is raised for our Team's fund is dedicated solely to research into muscle-wasting conditions so that future generations can live a life without physical limitations.
At the age of 8 years old, I was diagnosed with Ullrich Congenital Muscular Dystrophy. The prognosis? My parents were told I'd be in a wheelchair within the next few years, I'd be on a ventilator by 14 and I'd be lucky to make it past 20. From this point forward, Team Jed was born, with friends, family and groups of people coming together from all walks of life to raise over £250,000 throughout the years.
I ran the Junior Great North Run many many years ago, but figured it's about time I do something big and bring Team Jed back with a bang! I will be turning 24 later this year, so wanted to mark this occasion by working out for 24 hours straight to raise money and awareness for Muscular Dystrophy UK. For this event, I will be joined by some very special guests who will be working with me at various points throughout the day, helping to spread the word, improve awareness for the condition and of course, raise as much as we can to fund vital research.
For those who don't know myself or the charity that Team Jed was set up to help, Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity for 111,000 people living with muscle-wasting conditions. They are making a difference today, providing vital information and support to help people live as independently as possible. They are making a difference for tomorrow, accelerating progress in research and driving the campaign for access to emerging treatments.
