Story

York Against Cancer (YAC; https://www.yorkagainstcancer.org.uk/) is a wonderful local charity that provides invaluable care to those living with cancer, as well as funding scientific research at the Jack Birch Unit for Molecular Carcinogenesis (JBU) at the University of York.

At present, YAC funds a number of staff and student positions at the JBU. George’s PhD is directly funded by YAC, as well as Raphael’s role as Lab Manager, and Richard as the Bioinformatics Specialist. We recognise the integral role of the charity in supporting essential cancer research. With this in mind, the three of us will raise money for the charity by undertaking the Yorkshire 10-mile and Yorkshire Marathon on the 20th October 2024.

Any contribution to this vital charity would be massively appreciated and would go a long way in funding support for patients and their families, and continuing important research at the JBU.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
