Story
My goal is to raise £3000 for The Royal British Legion, Merseyside branch in an effort to give a little bit back for the support I received when I left the Army!
During my 5 years in the Army, I took part in operational tours and traveled across the globe to places like Afghanistan, Kenya, Cyprus, France, and provided security at the London Olympics in 2012.
When I left the military in 2013, I didn’t transition into civilian life smoothly.
The guidance from The British Legion was superb; they helped direct me to the suitable support I needed and helped me get somewhere to live and even, they provided me with all my white goods when I moved into a flat to give me that little head start back into civilian life.
Life since then has dramatically changed for the better!
I look back at that time of my life and feel genuine gratitude that it happened. Not because I liked it, but because I literally had nothing, it taught me that I can live without anything, which meant I learnt pretty quickly that I had nothing to lose!
I fully believe that without the early intervention of the British Legion, and the little step up they gave me, I don’t think I would be appreciating life as much as I do.
And this is the reason why I’m training for 11 months in preparation to run a marathon for The Royal British Legion. It’s the least I can do!
