Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

It is a privilege to be able to celebrate my retirement by undertaking this challenge to raise money for Acorn. My plan, with good friend Olaf Wiig, is to set off on our bicycles on the 9th June and head down to Bari, on the Southern most tip of Italy, a short hop of around 2000 miles. We will pass through Paris, Geneva, Lake Como, Milan, Bologna, Orvieto, Rome, Avelino and Potenza, before arriving in Bari on the 10th July.

Raising funds for Acorn has been an important and fun part of my 28-year career at the Cheriton Bishop and Teign Valley GP practice and I hope, with your generosity, that I can raise a significant amount of money to contribute to the continuation of such an important community organisation.

Acorn, with an army of phenomenally kind and generous volunteers, support the elderly and frail in our practice area through many activities ranging from minibus trips to Sainsburys, day trips, lunch clubs, coffee clubs, befriending, and a Memory Lane Cafe to name but a few! All these activities contribute to the mental and physical wellbeing of our patients thereby supporting our work as GPs.

If you wish to keep updated on my cycle to Bari, please follow the facebook pages of Acorn Community Support or the Cheriton Bishop and Teign Valley Practice where I will be posting regular updates.

Thank you again for your support, it really means the world to me.
