We are looking for 34 people/teams to take on the 34k Challenge; 34km on World Suicide Prevention Day, each with a fundraising target of £1000, so that together we can raise £34,000 to help us to continue supporting individuals bereaved by suicide.

Story

The estimated number of people directly bereaved by suicide each year is around 34,000 and growing.

Suicide is the biggest cause of death in men under 45. That is a lot of grieving friends, relatives, children...

Sadly I lost my Dad to suicide on the 19th December 2004, and this year marks the 20 year anniversary, so i thought it would be good to do something positive to remember him by, as well as giving back to a well needed cause

I'm walking 34k on 10th September 2024 for Suicide&Co, with a fundraising target of £1000 so that together we can raise £34,000 to help Suicide&Co to continue to achieve their mission of supporting individuals bereaved by suicide, and provide people with counselling sessions through Suicide&Co's Counselling Service.

This kind of counselling can be incredibly helpful. I know from personal experience. £1000 will pay for three grieving people to get a free series of counselling sessions.

It took me a long time (10+ years) to come to terms with what I'd been through and the impact on my life, When I was ready to talk I found the counselling sessions to be invaluable as it gave me that perspective I was needing, however this type of resource is more challenging than you would think to come by
