Event: Ride Africa: Mara Calling November 2024, from 9 November 2024 to 16 November 2024
In November 2024, a group of brilliant fundraisers will cycle 500km across Kenya to raise money for Child.org; a charity working to support mums and babies in Kenya with life-saving healthcare and information.

Story

I'm taking on an epic five-day, 500km cycle ride across Kenya with Child.org to raise funds for safer pregnancies and births for mums and their babies in Kenya. I haven’t ridden a bike in years, so this will be a really tough journey for me.

Your donations will help Child.org scale up its Team Mum maternal and neonatal health work in Kenya. Children born in sub-Saharan Africa are 15 times more likely to die in childhood than children in Europe and North America, and the earliest days of life are the most dangerous for children born in Kenya. Maternal mortality in Kenya remains alarmingly high and has increased by 55% between 2017 and 2020. Giving birth is still more dangerous than it should be, and Child.org, with your help, is working to change this.

Donating £100 is enough to set up a pregnancy support group for 15 women, guiding them through safe pregnancy with a 95% success rate. Your support can make a tangible difference in these women's lives.

Please consider donating and supporting my journey to make childbirth safer in Kenya. Thank you for your generosity!
