Story
I've been a library user for many years - without the library I don't think I'd have ever satisfied my passion for reading! But it's only over the last couple of years that I truly understood how the Suffolk Libraries charity enables libraries to offer many additional, vital and much needed services which support thousands of people in communities throughout Suffolk.
Libraries are a safe, inclusive space that provide not only a place to browse and borrow books but also, a place to socialise, take part in free activities for groups of all ages, a place to find help and advice, a warm space, they provide health and wellbeing support, digital skills sessions, services to reduce social isolation, the list is endless....
Without fundraising, sadly the range of services libraries offer would just not be possible, so when the opportunity came up to take on a personal challenge, support a charity that I'm passionate about and unashamedly shout about the amazing job that libraries do, I decided it was time to stop procrastinating and get on with it!
On Sunday 22nd September I'll be running the Ipswich Half Marathon for Suffolk Libraries. I'm dedicating my run to the memory of my Father-in-Law Ray and my Nana Laine, who both passed away this year. We all shared a love of books and a passion for reading. I know both would be first in line to support the amazing charity that enables our libraries to keep doing the fantastic work they do. To me it seems the perfect tribute to two wonderful people who loved books and got so much joy from reading
Library services and books are a lifeline for so many people. If you can help me to support that lifeline to continue, then please donate in memory of Ray or Elaine to support Suffolk Libraries and enable them to keep adding, improving and most importantly giving.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, every penny is truly appreciated, see you at the finish line!
