To support Motor Neurone Disease research at SITraN, at the University of Sheffield.
1/300 CHALLENGE
I am going to set myself the challenge of walking the equivalent distance of 300 miles from my home in Edinburgh to Sheffield. The aim is to raise vital funds for research into motor neurone disease (MND) at the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN).
MND is an incurable aging disease that is caused by the death of cells in the brain and spinal cord called motor neurones, which control muscles. Without motor neurones, muscles stop working leaving people paralysed in their own bodies. There is 1/300 risk of developing MND across a person’s lifetime, with aging being a key risk factor. Unfortunately, most people die within 3 years of diagnosis.
My aim is to walk 300 miles in 3 months and in the process raise at least £300 for MND research in Sheffield. Each walk will be recorded and miles calculated on FB.
Please support me and raise funds for MND research.
By making a gift today you will make a much needed breakthrough in MND come even sooner. And you'll improve the lives of MND patients long into the future.
