Story
Janet is hosting the fundraising page for the Churn Valley Benefice Ride and Stride this year. If you would like your donation to be associated with a particular person or place in our benefice please put that in your comments.
We are mainly walking, but there might be some cyclists also tagging along this just giving page.
****UPDATE****
What a fantastic day 14th September was for this year’s ride and stride, dry, sunny and not too hot.
We had up to 12 walkers in our group at one point.
Carol and Ronald Bury led the first 5.6 km (3.5 miles) to Winstone via Syde, we had to stop briefly to apply the first aid kit to one walker who tripped and got cut hands.
They then led the group of 6 back to Elkstone for those walking that circular option.
Susie, the churchwarden from Winstone, led the remainder from Winstone to Duntisbourne Abbots, along with her friend and trusty dog Muckle. From Duntisbourne Abbots to Duntisbourne Rous we followed the extremely picturesque route via Duntisbourne Leer along some footpaths and very quiet roads. One more of our group peeled off here to travel home. The emergency jelly babies were opened and shared in the cool quiet of Duntisbourne Rous church building.
The remaining 5 of us walked on to Daglingworth and then to Bagendon, where we were welcomed with much appreciated refreshments. One more walker left to head to Stratton from there, whilst the last four headed over the hill to North Cerney to be met by the churchwarden there. Our trusty support driver arrived to ferry us back to our cars or home.
Huge congratulations to all who walked, a special mention to those who applied first aid and carried the injured person’s bag for a bit. Overall as a group we covered more than 160 km or 100 miles.
