Event: Royal Parks Half Marathon 2024, on 13 October 2024
News industry runners are taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon in support of the Rory Peck Trust which delivers vital assistance to freelance journalists around the world.

Story

The past year has been the deadliest for journalists since records began, with many risking their lives and freedoms to share the stories of people caught up in war zones from Ukraine, to Gaza and Sudan.

The bravery and courage of freelance journalists in particular, bringing news of hardship and hunger from around the world, has made the challenges I have faced getting to the start line on October 13th this year entirely negligible. Even after finding myself unable to walk after climbing a mountain and then crashing off my bike and fracturing my fingers, I am glad to be able to run for the Rory Peck Trust and its brilliant work helping to protect freelance journalists so they can continue their fight for democracy and freedom of speech.

I'll still need all the help I can get to finish those 13.2 miles. Any donation, large and small, will be much appreciated, not just by me of course but the whole Rory Peck Trust team!

Thank you for your support.
