Story

We are a group of five Community First Responders, the CFR Klaxons, who trained together in 2022. One of us, Laura, completed the Outrun an Ambulance challenge last year. She became involved after her infant son had been attended to by air ambulance and taken to hospital by SCAS. We have all come together to do it this year.

Four of us have challenged ourselves to walk, run and/or cycle 990 miles between 1.3.23 and 31.5.23 - 3 times the average distance covered by CFR vehicles (Dynamic Response Vehicles). On 31.5.23 we are walking the last mile together, going from the Reading ambulance base to the Royal Berkshire Hospital carrying our kit bags.

With your help South Ambulance Service Charity are able to provide additional support to ambulance crews and volunteers, fund innovative new projects and work alongside our operational teams to really enhance the patient care South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) is able to provide.
