Story

In previous years I have participated in the Parish Walk in memory of my inspirational daughter Hannah Jelski, who sadly passed away aged 13 months in 2009. This year I will be doing a 24 hour writing sprint with the London Writers Salon in memory of Hannah, raising money for Crossroads IOM https://www.crossroadsiom.org/ who looked after Hannah in their nursery so I could return to work. They provided me with fantastic support during my time as a carer for a child with a short life expectancy and complex needs.

I finished the 85 mile Parish Walk in under 24 hours in 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022 and was a support car in 2023. In 2024 I am not participating in the Parish Walk due to a weak knee and am going to write about my experiences instead during a 24 hour writing sprint. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-24-hour-writing-sprint-a-day-of-writing-around-the-world-free-tickets-863379861407?aff=oddtdtcreator&mc_eid=7c22dacac3&mc_cid=0589cd7721

I will be following my Parish Walk times from 2022 (my slowest finish) as I travel through time zones and around the world, moving country when I reach a different parish, as part of the writing challenge. https://www.parishwalk.com/page_676473.html

I completed the challenge and managed to stay awake by napping for 6 minutes every hour which worked well using a timer. There is something powerful about having 24 hours to focus and get things done. Well done to everyone who completed the 24 hour challenge and to all who joined in.

I am all for celebrating success so have increased the target to £1000 as every little helps with this fabulous charity.

Here is an article I wrote after the writing sprint. https://open.substack.com/pub/janecritchley/p/unleashing-potential-in-24-hours?r=jhbyz&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true
