Story
Hi,
My name is Janey Bryson and I am traveling to Nepal on 27th October to commence a 12-day, self-funded trek to Everest Base Camp. As one of the world’s most iconic trails, I will be attempting to climb to a height of 5,545m to Kala Patthar, where it is possible to look down over the base camps of various Everest Expeditions.
During the long Covid periods I was employed as a Support Worker to assist a 48-year-old man who was terminally ill with Cancer. It was at times a very difficult but extremely rewarding and humbling experience. During this time, I also lost my own father to Dementia and was unable to attend his funeral. Last year I walked up Ben Nevis in his memory and raised £850.00 for dementia charities.
At the beginning of this year, I felt compelled to set myself a bigger goal and commenced training in January with eyes firmly set on attempting to trek to Everest Base Camp. With hard times experienced by us all this year, many charities are struggling and I felt this trip would be a great opportunity to support my local community. My hope is to put this challenge to good use by fundraising for Jeremiah’s Journey; a bereavement charity based in Plymouth which serves the immediate and surrounding areas and supports children, young people and their parents/carers at sad, difficult and uncertain times.
No one knows when a crisis may occur within their own family and so I give my heartfelt thanks to all those who support this very worthy cause. I can only promise that I will endeavour to do my very best to trek to the foot of the greatest mountain in the world. Thankyou.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
