Story

You may well have noticed that this years South Wales Winter Hill series is in memory of Hugh Aggleton. He loved fell running, with its physical and mental challenges and their highs and lows. He also loved the camaraderie. He was also exceptionally talented. Hugh won the Senior South Wales series twice. In 2015 he was the WFRA and Welsh Athletics Men’s Open Fell Running Champion. He won the world famous Man vs Horse race twice (never beating the horse, alas), Unsurprisingly, Hugh repeatedly representing Wales.

In 2019 his running came to a sudden stop when he was diagnosed with an incurable, aggressive brain tumour. It may come as a surprise to learn that Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. We feel that this is unacceptable!

We are fundraising for Brain Tumour Research as they are the only national charity dedicated to funding long-term, sustainable research in the UK. Please help us fund the fight to find a cure.
