We help people with addictions to recover fully and rebuild their lives.

Story

Addiction affects people from every walk of life and the reasons behind it are complex. Double Impact passionately believes that with the right support at the right time, people can and do recover fully, restoring their health, hope, confidence and sense of purpose.

Over the course of the last year, we have worked with Double Impact Services in Nottingham and Lincoln to provide Mindfulness classes for those in recovery from addiction. There is significant research to show that Mindfulness and Meditation can help prevent those in recovery from relapsing.

To date, these classes have been funded by money raised in memory of my lovely husband, Jamie Hempsall, who sadly lost his battle with addiction on 16th October 2020.

Despite the research, funding isn’t available to make these classes part of the core services, so I have decided to embark on an adventure to help raise money to keep the classes running.

On 17th September 2023, I will begin an 820km (509 mile) walk in Northern Spain.  I am estimating it will take about 5 weeks to complete (20 - 30km, 12 - 18 miles per day).  At the moment, all I have booked is a one way flight!  The route is a pilgrimage (Camino de Santiago) and I will be walking the Camino del Norte (the Northern coastal route) from Irun to Santiago de Compostela, staying at hostels along the way.

The funds raised from this campaign will enable more people to get the help that they need.

We all know someone who is affected by addiction - whether themselves or someone they love. Help us to help them.
