Story
2 years ago I kept writing a Facebook post in my head that began "The big man was finally felled...".
My Dad was felled, by a rare stroke. A cerebellar stroke. I wasn't sure how that Facebook post would end for a while. But thanks to Queen's Square, The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, he was felled... but he got up again.
After 8 months in various hospitals and two Brain surgeries at Queen's Square, my Dad came home.
Just over a year ago, after surviving Breast Cancer my Auntie Val was diagnosed with cancer again including a brain tumour. She was referred to Queen's Square but sadly the other cancers were so far advanced that she never made it to the wonderful team there.
I am running the 2024 London Marathon for my Dad, Roger De Courcey and my Aunt, Valerie Saunders in aid of The National Brain Appeal.
Please help me raise money for this world class specialist hospital. I know many people who have been helped here and given that they treat people from all over Greater London there is always the possibility that one day we may need them too. And having spent probably hundreds of hours in this amazing hospital I see that everyone works so so hard, they are wonderful people and they need our help.
The National Brain Appeal aims to transform the lives of the millions of people affected by neurological and neuromuscular conditions. It helps to drive advancement by funding pioneering research, innovative treatments and world-class facilities over and above what the NHS can provide.
Your donation will help The National Brain Appeal to improve the outcome and quality of life for the millions of people affected by a neurological condition.
