Story
I am running the Manchester Marathon in April 2025 to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society, in dedication to my Grandad Charlie, a man who has inspired me with his strength and resilience.
In 2000, my Grandad suffered a stroke following complications from a brain aneurysm operation. This event left him unable to speak, and I remember the bond we formed as he bravely fought to regain his speech. Seeing his determination and courage during that time has had a profound impact on me.
Sadly, in early 2021 my Grandad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and it has been heartbreaking to watch his decline. The man who once fought so hard to find his words is now struggling with the devastating effects of this cruel disease. It is incredibly painful for me and my family to see him in this state.
I am determined to make a difference and honor Grandads fighting spirit by running this marathon. My goal is to raise at least £800 for the Alzheimer’s Society, an organization that provides vital support to individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's and invests in critical research to find a cure.
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a significant impact. Your support will not only help fund essential services for those living with Alzheimer's but also fuel the hope that one day we will find a cure.
Thank you for joining me in this fight and for supporting a cause so close to my heart.
With gratitude,
Jamie
