Hi, I’m Jamie, and in April 2025, I’ll be taking on the London Marathon with a twist—I’ll be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon dressed as a crustacean (male) by doing it in a shrimp costume! The current record to beat is 3hrs 13 mins and 18 seconds, but I’m going all out to surpass it, all while raising money for a fantastic local cause—BASICS Essex.
BASICS Essex is an incredible charity that provides immediate, life-saving emergency care to people in need. The team of highly trained volunteer doctors and paramedics offers rapid response pre-hospital care, often arriving at the scene faster than ambulances and making a critical difference when every second counts.
Now, why the shrimp? Well, I live in Southend, Essex, a city that’s deeply connected to seafood. Our famous seaside is known for its rich fishing history, and our local football team, Southend United, is affectionately called “The Shrimpers.” Dressing as a shrimp feels like the perfect nod to both the city and our seafood heritage! Many of you know I am in to running, so I wanted to add an extra element of difficulty and comedy to this challenge. I will have to be training next year wearing the costume so keep an eye out for me around Essex.
Please help me support BASICS Essex by donating to this cause. Every penny raised will go towards funding the amazing work they do across Essex, saving lives and providing care in those crucial moments.
Thank you so much for your support!
