Story

James' Marathon for Meningitis Research Foundation

Hi all - I am going to be running the 2025 London Marathon for MRF. As some of you know, in 2018 at 5 months old, my son, Dexter unexpectedly became poorly and deteriorated to the point of being intubated for 5 days. In hospital he was diagnosed with a form of meningoencephalitis and stayed for further 3 weeks undergoing numerous tests to find out the cause, which was sadly never discovered.

There were many scary moments during this time, we were told most of his brain had been damaged and the doctors didn't know what he would be able to do once recovered. He had lost his sight, ability to feed and had uncontrollable muscle spasms.

Fortunately, through LOTS of prayer and the help of the doctors/staff we were able to return home but still not knowing the full extent of Dexter's health

6 Years on we are pleased to say Dexter is doing really well. He has a slight weakness on his right side but that doesn't hold him back as he is a bundle of energy!

I currently have only completed a half marathon so far so this will be a big challenge, but I am excited to take this on (being a keen runner and all!) If you can spare any donation for this charity, I would really appreciate it. I would love to help Meningitis Research Foundation achieve their goal of a world free from meningitis and septicaemia.

Much love all!

James
