Walk 1,000 miles in 20 weeks · 12 September 2023

Let's get the Folkestone, Hythe and District Community moving - in any way you choose - to raise money for local mental health & homeless charities. Walk, run, swim, cycle, play sport, jump, skip - any way, your way - help us reach a million miles!

Story

I'm taking part in the Move a Million Miles event - supporting wellbeing charities in my local area of Folkestone, Hythe and the Romney Marsh. My pledge to the event is to walk 1,000 miles in 20 weeks, before the end of summer. So that's 50 miles a week, 7.1 miles a day. Sounds quite easy as a target for any individual one day, but doing that on average each and every day over the next 140 days will be tough. In total, it will be around 2.2 million steps!

The four local charities who will benefit from my fundraising mean a lot to me, especially Mind, who have provided so much support in the last 9 months. Through my participation in many of the fantastic activity groups they provide to the local mental health community (I attend walking, cooking, mindfulness, reading, relaxation and music groups) they have helped me understand my own mental health much better and have been instrumental in my discovery of how my neurodiversity has influenced by life past and present.
