Story
Hey, I am going to run the ABP Southampton Marathon in April to raise money for Abby’s Heroes, over the last year our family has received support from the charity whilst undergoing treatment for cancer.
Abby's Heroes supports children, teenagers, young adults and their families, families, who come under the care of the the Piam Brown Ward and the Teenagers and Young Adults (TYA) wards at UHS - Southampton General Hospital. They take care of families from across the South Coast of England, we offer Welfare Packs, Care and Comfort bags, Financial Grants, operate a family room with emergency provisions, Counselling sessions and Play Therapy for the patient and their family.
Every year, having discovered the news that their child has been diagnosed with cancer, families enter either the Piam Brown Ward for 0-16yr olds, or the TYA Teenage and Young Adults Ward for 16-24yrs at University Hospital Southampton. The whole ethos of Abby’s Heroes is to place our arm around the shoulders of these families and support them during this journey. We offer Financial Grants to help with the financial burden of having your child diagnosed, practical support, Memory Making grants, Welfare Packs, Counselling service for the entire family, as well as two evening meals and a picnic lunch every week. Every single penny is vital to help Abby’s Heroes provide these services.
