Since 1885, thanks to the public's support, we continue to provide welfare and wellbeing assistance tailored to our Armed Forces community. We know and understand the unique demands of service life, whether in the UK or overseas, and in times of need, we help to enable the Forces family to thrive.

Story

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page.

I have been putting off Facing the Dragon at Tenby for the best part of ten years now but as I enter my second half century it is time I finally get on and do it!

Why Ironman Wales? There are many variants of Ironman around the world, but Ironman Wales is said to be one of the hardest with a 2.4 mile sea swim in the chilly waters of Carmarthen Bay, followed by a somewhat hilly and tough 112 mile bike ride around the Pembroke peninsula all topped off with a 26.2 mile (full marathon) plod around the scenic town of Tenby. So, I figured as I am likely (though I may get the bug) to only ever do one Ironman then it might as well be that one.

I am supporting SSAFA as I know only too well how crucial they are in supporting serving men and women, veterans and families who call on SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity when they are in a time of need. They know and understand the unique demands of service life, whether in the UK or overseas, and in times of need, they help to enable the Forces family to thrive. I hope you can join me in ensuring they have the vital funds they need to ensure they can keep doing just that!

Many thanks!
