Story
My wife calls me a "mama's boy" and I wear that title proudly like a badge of honour, I feel it is only fair as my mum was a fiercely devoted mother and friend, who always wanted nothing more than to make the people around her happy.
My mum's fight with cancer went on for over a decade, it started with breast, then lung and after years of being clear, in early 2020 she was admitted to hospital were they found a number of cancers all over her body, but the most serious was a tumour the size of a golf ball between the left and right hemisphere of her brain. She received a very vague prognosis of "weeks to a year, at best", she defied this with every ounce of her being and continued to live for 2 more years.
During the last 2 years of her life the Macmillan nurses became a critical part of my mum's life, fighting to get her the support and care she needed right up to the end, and supporting myself and my sisters as much as they could. The work they do means so much, to so many and while I hope that I never need to use their services again, the sad fact is that statistically we all might. I hope you join me in supporting them and I ask that you give what you can.
Thanks
Mama's Boy - James
