Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In November (weather permitting) I will be trekking from my home in Sea Palling, Norfolk to my Dad’s nursing home in Wellingborough Northamptonshire, between 130 and 150 miles, in 5.5 days. This is a trip I take regularly by car to go and see my Dad which I am sure many people can relate to. My aim for this journey is to raise awareness and as much money as possible for Dementia UK.
Dementia / Alzheimers has affected my family a great deal - my 76 year old Dad has lewy body dementia, my 88 year old Nan has just been diagnosed with alzheimers and I lost my 80 year old Grandad to vascular dementia in 2010.
I’m 41 years old, married with four children and one dog. I have my own successful electrical installation business on the North Norfolk coast.
At the moment I just run for fun mainly along our beautiful beach but this is a whole new ballgame for me - proper training starts in earnest in late January and I’ll be building up the miles until I’m ready for the off. I’ll also be posting regular training updates. For the run itself I’ll be going mainly through villages and using running trails away from the main roads - I’ll be putting my route up on social media so do come and support me if you can. There’s no denying that this will be hard but I’m determined to complete it for my Dad.
Please donate whatever you can, every penny counts, so that we can give more people affected by dementia the life-changing care they need.
