Story
I am running this years London marathon in support of my Goddaughter Poppy, for Cure EB.
Poppy suffers from Epidermolysis Bullosa which is an incurable, progressive, debilitating and very painful genetic skin condition which causes internal and external blisters at the slightest friction. In its most serious form which Poppy suffers from, it causes wounds that are like having very severe burns, eventually leading to skin cancer. Cure EB exist to find and fund research into treatments and, ultimately, a cure for this devastating disease. Every penny raised goes towards this research.
What Poppy and others suffering from this awful condition go through every day is hard to put into words, she is just so incredibly brave. You just want to take her pain away when you are with her, and life feels very unfair. But despite everything she is always so strong. I honestly don’t know where she finds the strength, but she always does. She’s so kind and has a wicked sense of humor.
For my small part, I will run this marathon as fast as possible and try and raise as much money as I can to help find a cure so that Poppy and other like her don’t have to suffer.
This is Poppy’s page on the charity website if you would like to read more about her condition.
